Senior Development Manager - Full-Stack AI Product Engineering Openings at Wolters Kluwer Pune And Chennai

This position requires a passionate and technology driven candidate to be responsible to manage UI and AI Product Engineering teams and responsible for acceleration of development and deployment of new GenAI capabilities.

A Technical Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the successful delivery of software projects by combining technical expertise with leadership and management skills to guide and support their team throughout the development lifecycle. They must stay intimately involved in the technical work of their team, and simultaneously as a leader, helping to guide their team to realize their potential and further the organization’s goals. A Technical Manager can be thought of as a bridge between an engineering team and management. They of the team who can give technical guidance as well as mentor developers on the team. As a manager, needs to demonstrate leadership and encourage their developers to operate at their top potential and work together as a true team.

This role requires very strong technical skills in software development and a proven ability to deliver products to the market. Day-to-day activities will require working across multiple work streams, managing performance of technical team leads and individual developers, and ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery. This role assists with the planning and estimating of work, understands requirements of and desired functionality being built, and helps craft the technical solutions that will deliver the desired functionality.

This is a role will report directly to the Director of Technology - Legal & Regulatory DXG India leader and is crucial to the continued growth of the business unit within Wolters Kluwer

As the hands-on Manager of AI Product Engineering teams, you will be responsible for leading the development and maintenance of UI applications and back-end services that consume agentic AI workflows using TypeScript, NodeJS and ReactJS, to craft effective prompts to guide generative AI models and creating autonomous AI agents in Python.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of UI applications and back-end services that act as consumer of agentic ai workflows using Typescript, React.js and NodeJS
• Prompt engineering skills; crafting effective inputs (prompts) to guide generative AI models (like ChatGPT) to produce desired outputs.
• Experience with creating agentic AI in Python. This involves creating autonomous AI agents that can perceive their environment, make decisions, and take actions to achieve specific goals also using large language models (LLMs).
• Implement security best practices for web applications, including authentication and authorization mechanisms
• Experience with observability preferably creating insights into agentic workflow’s.
• Optimize UI performance, build responsive applications and ensure cross-browser compatibility
• Participate in Agile development, peer code reviews, estimation and sprint planning.
• Obsessive focus on customer experience and continual delivery of value.
• Effectively lead to instill trust, empower team members, focus on business outcomes, and foster a learning culture.
• Foster DevOps culture to ensure that applications can be built, tested, deployed, and monitored in an efficient and automated manner.
• Manage a team of 20+ engineers and responsible for delivery of AI Capabilities and product on-time with superior quality.
• Maintain and lead awareness of industry best practices and relevant technologies.
• Monitor trends in AI and software engineering and development tools to influence the solutions.
• Understand capabilities and functionality of the platform and products to design and develop new features, modifications, enhancements to current products and tools.
• Participate in Code reviews, setting and implementing coding standards, hands on troubleshooting whenever required across different teams.
• Partner with stakeholders across geographies to design and develop modifications and enhancements.
• Coordinate with Product Management in all areas of development including planning, estimation, risk escalation, mitigation, delivery, and support.
• Conduct performance appraisals and provide coaching/mentoring to direct reports.
• Produce high quality software and participate in continuous improvement to achieve higher efficiency.
• Mentor technical managers, principal engineers, senior software engineers as well as associate software engineers through formal and informal channels.
• Ensure that all operational and employee related escalations are properly managed and resolved.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Job Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS, or related field.

• Experience:
  • 12+ years of experience in the software industry with 4+ years of experience managing software product engineering teams
  • Experience in working in agile teams using technologies like React.Js, Node.JS, typescript and different kind of datastores.
  • Strong UI expertise, a deep understanding of frontend frameworks, and experience working with modern cloud-based applications
  • Experience in software development, with proficiency in both backend and frontend technologies.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, architecture, and best practices.
  • Experience in end-to-end software project delivery, from conception to deployment

• Key Skills:
  • Web Technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript
  • Backend & API Integration: Node.js creation of RESTful APIs (and orchestration)
  • Cloud & DevOps: Docker, Jira, Git, Rush, (we use infra as code but run containers for local development)
  • Experience with creating agents in python with frameworks like langchain and langraph.
  • Security & Logging: Security Best Practices, ELK, Kibana
  • Version Control & Build Tools: GitHub/BitBucket
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines
  • AI Code Generation tools like GitHub Copilot

• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to exercise mature judgement.
• Strong strategic thinker: Ability to apply conceptual strategy, facilitate brainstorming, and direct day-to-day execution of projects through to completion with proven experience creating strategies that are executable through creative expression.
• Experience leading teams in researching new and emerging technologies to realize potential value, business fit, operations, and cost efficiencies of implementing such technologies is necessary.
• Ability to oversee multiple complex project deliveries in parallel.
• Comfortable operating in fast-paced, dynamic environment

• Mandatory Skills:
  • Strong experience in Typescript and NodeJS
  • Full stack development with Python and Agentic AI workflows
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Knowledge of Security best practices (e.g., authentication, authorization, secure coding)
  • Strong experience in Unit Testing (vitest, Cypress) and Logging frameworks
